Front on Gv higher than 3inchs
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:11:27 AM »
Hi All

so i have lifted the GV as high as i can go, well sort of - i know from playing with the rear suspension that i can make it a 5 inch lift ( 4inches now ) but has anybody gone over 3inches in the front?? if so what have you done??

i have fitted struts, springs and diff drops in the front for a 70mm lift and i want to go higher but without welding things on

thanks for any input

Tim

that's been "under development" for some time.  4" is the highest kit that I've seen to date.  You stated that you are at  70mm = 2.75in.   Was this a kit or just springs and a diff drop.

As long as you keep dropping the diff to make sure the CV angles don't get too crazy - you can go as far as you want. The limitation becomes the angle of the front shaft from the t-case to your front anvil (aka diff). I've seen a 7" lift on a 4-door tracker done this way - the guy just dropped the whole suspension down. More complex than a body lift, but he got more frame clearance  :D

Out of curiosity, what size tires are those? What engine do you have? How has your power & MPG been impacted with the bigger rubber? Do you live in flat ground, or in the hills?

Another issue with GV and Xl's is that they have rack and pinion steering. The whole rack would need to be dropped as well.  At 4" I think you would be pushing it but could get away without dropping it but your going to need space the tie rod ends out some. Also the rear track bar will need to be address too.

Does that include the amount your odometer is off because of the bigger tires?

I wouldn't count on the ZukiNation 4" kit coming out for quite a while. I phoned them back in October to inquire if it would be done by New Year's and they said it had been put on hold for an indefinite amount of time because they are/were in a temporary warehouse and they wouldn't be able to work on it for some reason or another. I was disappointed, I really didn't want to have to body lift my new Zuk to fit 31's.
