Unstoppable mystery leak???
« on: December 28, 2008, 07:24:01 PM »
Help!
i can't seem to get a break on this.  I have a leak in my 1995 track kick that has so far, eluded me.
it's 110% coming from the drivers side firewall.  My best gues is some where in the vicinity of just below the speedometer.  And just above the clutch linkage.

Iknow this because when it freezes my clutch pedal is frozen and i have to pump it a few time to loosen it up.  and as it leaks it dribbles rusty water drops on my pant leg..  I also figiured it's location because my new rubber floor mats are always dry but there is a lake underneath them...so whereever this leak is it drips down the firewall and under the mat.

I've popped open the hood and don't see anything very obvious at all.  Nothing around the steering & braking hardware, and the fender is solid with no rust or visible holes where large amounts of water could get in.  a guy at a shop seems to think it's something behind the drivers fender we can't see.  My question is...does anyone else have or had this type of leak in their rig?  what was it?

No it's a tracker, but when i had my Sammy it was exactly the problem you said.  If it were the water channels...how would i go about flushing those?

Check the windshield gasket.  Mine did the same thing.  I had 2 small gaps in the gasket in both A pillars.  Once I filled them with silicone the water leaks went away.
