cold start issue...only in the morning, tho...
« on: January 24, 2009, 12:22:53 PM »
well, i have a 95 tracker with a 97 16v motor which i put in it last fall, been running fine, but as of lately with the ridiculously cold weather, its been starting kind of funny in the cold, its almost like when the battery has been disconnected and the motor fires once, then dies, then the second time you hit the key it lights right back up, ive tried to cycle the key on and off 3-4 times and letting the fuel pump kick off each cycle...same...there are no fuel leaks, and i even swapped out the fuel pressure regulator with the one that was on the motor when i got it....same...gave it some new ngk plugs and wires and replaced the cap and rotor...cleaned and re-oiled the k&n...im at a loss...anyone ever have/hear of this??
like i said, it all started when it started getting about 0 degrees Fahrenheit outside...now its almost tropical at about 15 degrees Fahrenheit out, this is the first winter that i have parked it outside, so i dont know if its just what it is or if something is goin on with the winter beater?!? but the weird thing is that if i drive it to my lady friends house at about noon and stay there till 11pm or so it fires right back up...could it be the computer being weirded out by the weather changes during the day/night?? because i usually get home and its like 0 degrees Fahrenheit by the time i park the rig for the night, and usually 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit by the time im ready to hit the road

like i said...im at a loss...anyone ever have/hear of this issue??

thanks in advance, Justin

MY 94 TRACKER IN THE MORNING SOUNDS AS IF WILL FALL APART. ITS BEEN -34 HERE. ONCE ITS WARM RUNS FINE AND NEVER GIVES A PROBLEM. TEST THE CCA OF HE BATTERY. THE VOLTS MAY BE GOOD BUT THE CCA MAY BE LOW

:BUMP

ive ABused the search function, and nothing i could find related to this...even searched a couple other geo/zuki forums and managed to turn up nothing...i parked it in the garageattached to my house last nite (the woman was PISSED she had to come out to a freezin |removethispart|@$$ jeep G/C at 6 this a.m. but i needed the warm spot to park the beater in >:D) but...its 11am, and i havnt tried to fire the lil bugger up to see if it does the start for a sec. and die then restart like nothing happened...hopefully its just because the ambient temp. of everything out there is WAAAYYYYY below what its supposed to be operating at or something?!? ???
