I have an 89 Sidekick and  I've replaced 4 passenger side axle seals in the last 6 months! I've talked to people who say the inside bearings are bad and need replaced, but there doesn't seem to be any play in the axle. I'm at my wits end! Anyone experienced this and knows how to end this, plz send suggestions! Thnx!

Once all the oil leaks out, it'll stop and no more worries. :-)))

Or, pull the axle, replace the seal and you should be good to go.

Check the axle seal area for pits, burrs, etc. This won't make the seal work properly if this is damaged. When you replace the seal, clean the area really good, inside and out. Replacing seals is rather simple with the correct tools. Seal puller and a driver is all that is needed.

plenty of grease when you put the seal in as they arent the best seals and if you have any wear on yor drive shaft it will also come out of there,

My job for tomorrow. I'm going to replace the driveshaft cos theres a very noticable wear line where the seal goes and put a new seal in too. I need to pull the other shaft too cos the gaiter has split right round  

I had an oil leak from the Cam seal, on
inspection I found a small nick in the sealing
surface of the Camshaft, smoothed it down
with some fine emery cloth lubed with motor oil
and I have no more leak.

The nick was enough to "eat" the seal and cause
the leak, once the seal lip is damaged it cannot
seal the oil back, so check carefully for rough/sharp
damage to the sealing surface on the shaft, also be
carefull when pulling the shaft out, the seal is right at
the edge of the diff housing and very easy to damage.

Check the CV cup for the metal shield that keeps
junk from getting up there and damaging the seal too.

You might also see if you can drive the seal deeper into
the case, this might help keep the Axle/CV assembly from
rubbing and causing damage too.
