Spoke with Brent at TT about the new, soon-to-be-released "Undertaker" for the Sidekick platform.  This will go between the tranny and t-case and sport a 1.5:1 permanent reduction.

With 4.57's, it will correct for 35"s
With 4.88's, it will correct for 37"s

Only issue is, this fits 26spline fine spline tranny outputs.  Our GV has the stronger, course spline (16 spline or something like that).  So this won't work for us...

yet.

After talking, he said it wouldn't take much except some time and tools, to spline it for the late model Kicks, Vits, GV and XLs.  Maybe 6 mos (no promises) and I'm down for one.  If interested, let Brent know.

37"s are one step closer now.

Getting the Samurai T-case in would be better. Doubler for the same price.... mmmmm.....

these numbers always go over my head i just have 225/75/16 tyres and i want to have rock crawler gearing as the factory low is useless in my gv

1.5 reduction (hi and low range) means you turn the tires 50% slower. Which means in hi-range, you can run 50% bigger tires  and run stock RPM at any given speed.

35/37" tires is what either the doubler, or 1.5 from TT would get ya geared for

35" on IFS?

Not on that rig, but I'm thinking about doing a 35" IFS rig with 4.88 diff gears, and the Samurai doubler. IFS has some (not as much as people make it out to be) disadvantage in the rocks, but they've got HUGE advantages everywhere else (mud, sand, fire roads...). Mike Hagen & friends run exclusively IFS rigs on 33-40" tires - and they abuse them in the rocks all day long.
