Small, low powered and choppy ride.  Not things that sell well in the US Market.  These days it probably won't make it over just to avoid having to rebuild it to meet the safety and emission rules...

you would think the people importing the Minny trucks in to the us could also bring in the jimny. For off highway use. I would like to have one for one reason offroad fun. the sami and trackers are going to do nothing but get more and more scarce every year. like the vw beetle a lot of them were offroaded in the form of the dune buggy in the 7dies and 8ies. They have now all but disappeared. I don't care if I can't drive a jimny on the road I just want to have fun.

It wasn't their fault, but it was crazy expensive for them.  I wouldn't blame Suzuki one iota if they finished their history holding back their best products from our market as a simple "FU, USA".  We failed to keep our shitheads in the shitter and, instead, let them run roughshod over justice and reality.

Next time you vote (or buy a "consumer 'advocate'" magazine), just keep crap like the Samurai Ambush somewhere in mind.

yep, I hear ya! Seems like I can remember Ralf Nader's Name in on all that litigation. Toyota still makes basic no frills offroad based vehicles but they are all sold on the European market you see them all the time on those nature shows. They look like the first generation Land Cruisers, and I guess they could be only I can't see why some one would do a ground up restoration on one just to trash it in Africa or Australia some where! Right now in the US the market seems to be for people that a Minny van would serve there purpose just as well. Just last month I came up on a Woman in the ditch, not even a deep ditch. She flagged me down, I stopped to see what here problem was. She wasn't even stuck! I thought she was broke down, and had pulled to the side of the road. I got out and she asked me if I had a cell phone so she could call a tow truck I asked her what was the problem and she said she hit a slick spot and ran out of the road. I allmost started laughing, but she was obviously pretty shaken by the hole experience so I held it back. She was in a four wheel drive KIA. I told her to put it in four wheel drive and drive it out of the ditch. She said she didn't know how. She said she has had it for 3 years and had never had to use it. By this time there was on lookers trying to figure out what was wrong. So i got in put it in four wheel drive and pulled it out of the ditch for her. There was about 2 inches of snow some icy spots so I told her to just leave it in four wheel drive till she got home, and went on my way. Sorry about the long story. It just seems to me that that's the type of person the 4x4 market is targeted to here in the US...
