what axles  SAS
« on: August 24, 2004, 10:05:25 AM »
ok i have a dana 30 a and dana 44 sitting here but there is not a close enough ring and pinion set.

tracker 5.12
           5.83

dana 44 5.89

all i found for a dana 30 is 4.8? something.
oh the dana 30 fits perfect the 44 is a little to long by 4 inches total i can live with either axle.

does anyone know somewhere to get a ring and pinion made to a certain size.

the Dana 30 Swap is what I've been concidering myself.

However the gears, is something I was going to worry about after I had the rest resolved.
In my area we've a six states business that carries most gears, and I know is able to build a lot in house.
Another idea, contact a your local jeep guys, (gasp it's almost blastphemy) and see who thier contacts are.

Check out Randy's Ring and Pinion http://www.diferentials.com/

They list a 5.38:1 for the D30 and for the Samurai.  The Samurai is the only Suzuki on the list but I'm sure they'd have it for the Trackick.  Give them a call.

arnt' 5.89's and 5.83's close enough?  and why not just put 44's front and rear?

yeah, I'd go with the 44's, 5.89's means taller tires!

yes i thought of doing 2 swaps (44's) but that means i have to retube the rear bcause it is offset to much, the front is within an inch, the rear is off by 4". so more money. and if i go with OX axle shafts and stubs in the 30 they claim it will be far stronger than a dana 44.

what r the lagest size tire being WELL used on a tracker axle.
