I have a 93 Tracker 5spd.
30inch tires, get 30mpg (I'm pretty sure it's regeard, judging by the mpg and the orange RTV around the diffs and 3rd memembers).

Getting the steel housing seems pretty straight forward, but I'm confused about my current ring and pinion. I want to make sure I do not have to buy a new ring and pinion.

I also want to updgrade from 22 spline to 26 spline shafts.

I'm also kind of confuse on what is a carrier? I assume this is something inside the 3rd member?

The list of parts I think I need?
1.  Complete Rear Sami 3rd member (so it comes with carrier?)
       Are all sami 3rd memebers 4 pin?
       Are all sami carriers 26 spline?

2.  26 Spline Side gears?
         (I guess this depends on the what comes in the sami 3rd?)

3.  Ring and retainer kit to allow tracker ring and pinion to fit in a sammi carrier.

I want to make sure I know what I need!

with all the labor, and headache you are going to go through, why not get sammi axles (complete w R/P) and save yourself the headache of all this, as well as improving your articulation, and gearing issues? just a thought.... not trying to persuade you in any way.... I still have IFS and stock 5:12's

because the sammy axle is weaker than the sidekick IFS, sammy axle swap is a waste of $$ and time, and yes i know, Ive done it twice before.......

if you want to go solid axle, use toy axles instead, its the same proses anyway.......

due to more weight and power that the sidekick has over a sammy, they just don't hold up.......

The carrier is what the ring gear bolts to, and it also contains the spider gears and sidegears.

All samurai REAR thirds contain a 4 pin carrier and have 26 spline sidegears.  Only 86-88 samurai front carriers are 4 pin (88.5 and up samurai front carriers are the same single pin (2 pin) carriers as all trackick front carriers).  All samurai front carriers are 22 spline.

You do realize that samurai third housings do not have the "ear" on them for the trackick rear support bracket, right?  You will have to weld on an ear for the bracket, or come up with some way to support/brace the rear of the third, to keep it from moving.

If you are wanting to change to 26 spline axleshafts, you will need a new left side CV shaft assembly and just the inner shaft (the straight shaft that fits into the housing) on the right side.
