Thanks for the reply.  You make some good points.  I have the 127hp 4cyl coupled to an auto in my tracker, and I don't want to rob it of power.  I'm thinking I'll stick with the factory wheels/tires for now, add the coil spacer lift, and go from there.  I'm still somewhat undecided.  I also really want to have cragar soft 8 wheels, but I can't seem to figure out if they'll fit my factory tracker brake hardware or not.

With the auto you have the 4.88:1 R&Ps.  The auto provides some forgiveness for taller tires unlike the manual transmissions with the 4.62:1 R&Ps.  The auto can generate a little more torque to compensate for a little change in tire diameter.  29" tires are doable on these stock trucks and the change in power going to 29" tires is not terribly significant.  I can still pull 5th gear on the highway and up small hills with my manual tranny.  Larger tires with their increasingly heavier carcasses proportionally degrade your power and fuel economy.  Can't get around that fact of science.  That's why it's important to really be honest about what you intend to use your truck for and how far you drive it each day if it happens to beyour DD (liike mine).  So choose your poison and then enjoy your truck.   

As far as the wheels you are wanting, go to a dealer and tell him you want to fit one on the front of your truck to check clearance issues.  If they want to make a sale (most do) they shouldn't have a prolblem with popping off one of your front wheels and sliding one on to spin it around.  Back spacing is an issue.  Sitting here on my ass, I don't recall what the stock back spacing is.  I'm thinking it's aropund 3 inches, but I obviously don't know.  I have a set of steelies out in the garage that I measured once but I don't recall the actual procedure for measuring back spacing.  It's not just measuring the rim lip to the mounting surface.  Some of the guys on here know the actual factory back spacing.

I agree with the point about lift before tires. I sure wish I had some 31-9.5's right about now. Now I have to try and wear out the 235's fast.
