Thermostat and MPG
« on: May 22, 2009, 01:29:03 AM »
I just finished ring, bearings,a nd seals on the 1.3 and I am wondering if there are any correlations with H2O themp and MPG. I don't run a thermostat right now because it is so hot here in CA but my gauge only reads between the two lower marks. Coud this lower my mpg?

There will be some correlation. The engine will take longer to warm up so the ECU will remain on the richer cold mapping for longer, if the engine doesn't reach full temp then it will stay on the cold map forever.
