Bridge River Valley exploring - lots of pictures!

We ventured up into the north last weekend looking to get away for a long weekend. Wasn't really any hard wheeling, just more cruising around and checking things out. Driving over the Hurley on Saturday we passed some large snow piles on the side of the road. The road was just cleared a few weeks before we passed thru.
Arriving in Gold Bridge and driving around Carpenter Lake and the lake was empty! I have not seen the lake this empty in years.
Saturday morning and we head out from camp to find an old Subaru on the side of the road.
We made our way up to Mud Lakes and encountered some snow that had not melted yet and part of the lake was still frozen.
Stopped for a poser shot on the way back to camp.
Sunday morning we decided to head up above the dam and into an area that we have not been before. Again the upper lake was empty as well, a result of work being done to the dams we were told. Stopped at an old town site on Carpenter Lake that usually is under water and then headed into Gold Bridge to gas up.
A view of the upper dam and some shots from along the lake.
We saw a little side road that headed up into the mountains so we decided to go take a look and see how far we can get.
Close to the bottom
And stopped by snow at the top
Found a really big rock in the middle of the road - tried to drive over it but was just a little too big
From the main road we could see that further on an avalanche had slid over the road. We weren't going to let that stop us so we just drove over it.
All in all a good weekend and the only breakage was an idler pulley on one of the Jeeps. Made our way home on Monday after a great weekend.

Nice pics... I really like the rock in the middle of the road that you tried to put a tire on.... I think you could've done it!

Did you try giving it more gas to get over the rock?
Great looking shots though, makes me want to go exploring...

We ran into a few guys that saw that rock roll down from the cliffs above to where it sits now. It has been there for 2 years now.
Here is where it came from....
