Brake job

Brake job

It started out so simple. (Changing brakes on the front of a Zuki has to be the easiest around.)

The rear is another story. We don't have rust here (no salt) but the LR wheel cylinder almost wouldn't come loose from the brake line... and the right side wouldn't come loose from either lines.

Sooo... $50 to the dealer and new brake lines are coming. (I always get sticker shock from those guys. Shops and insurance companies get a 40% discount... but not the rest of us.)

She's back up and running, but the RR will have to be torn down again. I just hope I don't have to rent the drum puller again.

what is that, a slide hammer?  i think their are some other ways to take the drums off.  i think you can take the bolts off the drum and put the tire on backward and give it a good whack, it might come off :-/

Yep, Its worked for me. The rear brakes are a funny thing.
But who needs brakes? they just slow ya down anyways ;)

well when you can aford(sp) low gears like some people (cough cough) i guess you can't go fast enought to need to slow down. ;D

 Hey, I don't rent a puller, I just made one out of a broken axle, comes in pretty handy, huh Heather? By the way, can I get it back?  :D

Thanks for the tip. That should work great, now that I've had them off once.

The puller is a 3-leg device... kinda like a tripod... & the legs slide around to match any bolt pattern. I've been renting that puller, off and on, for 30 years. <g> (I try to not use slide hammers to pull anything attached to axles... and that LR was really tight.)

I wonder why those parts are so tight. To pull the lines it's going to require cutting the line and using a 6 point socket... with an extension... and hoping that's enough.
