sas with 4 link on tracker
« on: June 21, 2009, 09:21:17 PM »
Ok I'm going to be doing a sas on my 95 tracker. I will be using the axles out of my jeep cherokee since i have it and it has a 6.5 lift in it. so I want to do it with 4 link front and rear and I'm looking for ideas on what I should do so it works without too many problems. so anyone that has done anything close to what I want to do please post pictures of the set up so i can get some ideas on what i need to make and what i need to buy to get this done in a timely manner and can get back out into the mud. thanks to all.

3-link is more popular up front because there's not much room to make a 4-link happen.

yeah i was looking at the jeep that I am taking the lift and axles out of and I will just use the front set up and make a 4 link for the rear axle. I think that will be the best option. thanks for the info.

Most jeeps are Drivers side drop.  Makes it a pain to find 44's for YJ.  :)

One issue with the Jeep swap is the gear ratios.  The Tracker runs with 5.12 gears, the 4cyl Jeep's usually have 4.10 gears and have 4.88 as the lowest option.  It can be done, but you may be a bit underpowered.

As for the 4 link, I would load up the link calculator and read the articles at 4 Wheel Off Road (http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techarticles/suspension/131_0307_four_link_suspension_part_2/index.html) then double and triple check your numbers and go for it.

yes its drivers drop and I'm going to cut it up and make it pass drop gonna be some work but i can do it. the jeep has 3.55 gears now but I have a 4.25:1 reduction kit in the tcase on the tracker so they might work. if not then i will go with 4.10 and see what happens. thanks for the link that will be helpful.

One item of note, the transfer case reduction on the Trackers only reduces it in low range, not in high range like the Suzuki transfer case gears.

For the 4 link calculator I used the one posted at the xTreme 4x4 Site:  http://www.powerblocktv.com/site3/index.php/xtreme4x4-extras

Ever consider going with with Toyota axles?  It would save you a lot more time and energy, and there stock with 4.10 some with 4.38 R&p.

yeah only problem is around here they are hard to find plus if you do everyone wants too much for them. Plus I figure i have a set of axles that will work just have to do some work to get the front to work. But gives me something to do.
