Is there a Suzuki that fits my needs?
« on: June 24, 2009, 01:04:23 PM »
I am looking for a daily driver that I can also use on the weekends to take the kids off-roading. I've been looking at some late 90 4dr 4spd Sidekicks on the net and figured I get more honest answer from those who use them than those selling them. I do plan to wheel it but more mild than extreme until they kids are at least all out of diapers. Mostly going up where 90% won't go and getting some back-woods camping in while back there.

Is there a year/model of Suzuki that will hold 3 large carseats in the back seat, realiable, dependable, affordable (under $4k) ya'll would recommend?

Sadly, I think the Tracker is going to be a bit to small for you.  There is room for two car seats, but a third is pushing it.  You might be better off looking at a Jeep Cherokee or a 4-Runner.

Agreed.  The XL-7 would probalby do the trick but, barring incredible luck, $4k is unlikely to get you into one.

three seats in the back of a tracker probably won't fit, unless you play with the belts and make the outer belts sit out a little more than stock. It will give you the needed room to fit three.

In your shoes I'd go for a cherokee, they are very capable in stock form with a set of tires and can fit t he three seats and all the gear you will need. I hate suggesting a Jeep but it's a great option and there are tons of them.

I had one for three years ago and it worked real good. Had zero oil pressure and drove it for three years all the time with a spare motor sitting in the shed waiting for the motor in the Jeep to say "see you later"....never did. with a 2" spacer lift and some springs in the back I drove that thing into the ground and it never let me down.

Another option is to put the woman on the roof in a box.....kids got to be safe. Good thing about kids is that they grow up and then need less room with no seats.
