Im not to certin but i think im getting poor milage driveing locally stopping and starting alot Ect.
I will set my mile or KM counter to check but sure seems to go thru the frist half of the tank fast.
 
Its running smooth just wondering what kinda milage 4 Doors get with the 16 V motors

Stock? Lifted? What size tires/wheels? Gearing? Many factors would contribute to lowering the mileage. When my 4dr. Tracker was stock, I was getting 28ish MPG. Since it has been lifted 4-4.5" and is currently running 30" MTs with stock gearing, my mileage has dropped to about 23-24 per gallon.

Mine is Stock normal tires.
its a 1997 LSI Auto with OD and standard sized tires.

When i was running long runs on the HWY it was getting about 30 MPG

I guess running up and down hills with stops and starts and never going more than 20 miles a day all at 40 Mph is not a good way to test for fuel econemy.

I average about 27 mpg in my truck with my driving about 50/50 city & highway. Last tank on the highway I was able to squeeze out 30 mpg. Or for us Canadians I am getting about 10lt per 100kms. How many kms are you getting on a tank?

Im not sure i like to work things out in MPG not KMs
I hate the metric system even tho its easyer to follow my mind is trained to know how far a Mile is not a KM.

Why Canada changed to the metric system when the USA did not is beyond me 

I was getting over 30 MPG on long trips on the Hwy.

Our Gallon in Canada is bigger than the US gallon to its 4.5 Liters the US gallon is 4 Lts so we should get more MPG than USA trackers.

Because they're smart? America is the ONLY industrialized nation still using the ghey queen's measurements. Even the UK's given up on it, and got on board with metric. No more figuring out oz / quart / gallon BS.

That said - You should expect MPG at least in the mid twenties. I'm having EGR issues, so I've dropped to 20 MPG with my 1.5" lift & 29" tires (I should be getting low to mid twenties).

personaly never could figure out that metric  crud .
 IMO its easier to figer out  cups , points quarts, and gallons .
 personaly im glad the us satayed away from it .
 the system we have has worked fine , will continue to work fine. think about all the money spent just to change a system of measurement that works no better .
 but then a politicians gotta make people think they are getting more 

 with my stock 89 " 3 speed auto " 1.6 8v , i get 30  on the open road  with the top on , as long as i keep her right around 65 . over that and she drops to 24 .  top off i lose about 3 miles per gal .
 in town i get  around 24 with all the starting and stoping . not to mention shutting the engine off  and restarting it every 30 or 40 minutes .
so normaly in a days work i  avrage 27-28 per fill up

 now in the winter that drops  to 27  on the highway . i think this is becouse inm running the heater but im not sure

Damn, I'm soooo jealous! If I could get 25 mpg outa mine I'd be happier than a pig in shit!

Might be time for a plug/wire/cap replacement. Gap plugs to spec. Dirty old fuel filter, dirty air filter.
Any engine codes? O2 Sensor maybe.
Bad wheel bearing, or out of alignment can reduce fuel economy.
If it still drives good and straight, I'd rule out the last part. But tune up & filters are definatly important.

America uses the queen's measurements?  that's news to me - so how come there is a US gallon which is less than an imperial gallon?

We don't have kms here, they do sell petrol in litres but we convert to gallons and still use mpg. Of course our gallon is bigger 

Before the engine blown in my sunrunner (which is now sold, for more than what I bought it... incredible  ) I used to get anywhere between 9 to 12L/100kms with a 8-valve 3-spd auto, which is IMO awful considering the power and size of the engine and the size and weight of the car/body (2dr convertible tracker), and the speed I was driving it (100kmh / 62mph on highways, 60kmh in city), when a much bigger/faster/more powerful car could drive faster and drink less.

My tip would be, drive slower, or swap engine and tranny

Nah.  My '96, 5-sp on stock tires gave me 30mpg day in, day out.  27.x mpg on 29" tires.
