SPOA
« on: July 15, 2009, 10:47:47 AM »
I just bought a 88 sammi with a plow for 475$ in hundred percent running shape. needs some floor boards an what not. this is my second sammi. I was going to axel lift it but I was thinking bout it an thougth that even if I axle lift it the fact that it has staight axles make it so that the axles will hang up anyway if somthing is tall enough. I belive you can fit 31 inch tires on it with out the axle lift, but im not sure. But since its got the plow i dont really want to lift it. does anyone know what size tires you can fit on a stock sammi with no lift.

Without any mods you can usually fit 235/75 R15 tires, any larger and you start to rub the fenders.  As it is you will probably need to trim the front bumper a bit.

If you want to look at doing a SPOA then kahn_sultan did a great writeup.

I'm running 30's on my 413K and it's the same as a stock samurai...just longer. I had a plow on my 413K and did a SOA and tried to modify the plow after the lift. It could be done but the stress on the frame would be more with the lift. I took the lift off and rebuilt the plow brackets to fit SUA.

I'll get to wheel all summer and plow all winter. I run a 7' hydraulic fisher plow with a plastic scrapper edge to reduce the weight. It works really good.

yea I was kinda thinking that the plow with a lift might be to much, I dont know exactly what size the plow is it looks to be as wide as the sammi. I also dont know what the make is. Its 100 electronic. I thought it might have been a sno bear but its not. it has up an down plus side to side from the inside. so I guess the snow bear an other plows like it have manual controlls. The plow its self looks like it was supose to be plastic at one point in time but who ever owned it befor me put steel plating on it. I will def take it off durring the summer seasons. I really just wanted to lift the zuk. I'm going to really want to go 4 wheeling. I know it. I cant really think of any other lifts that I could do to get it off the ground more. all well.
