A Canuk on the sand
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:27:09 PM »
Derek called me one day to say that he would be up here in my area and wanted to hit some dunes. Sweet! I chose Sand Lake because it is close and easy for a day trip. We hit the sand in the morning and I took off. Derek had blown out his struts on the Rubicon a few days earlier and was taking it a little easier. It took us all of 30 minutes to get stuck.

When I tried to get around on the lower trail to pull him out I slipped into a little pit and also got stuck. I let some more air out and was able to climb out of the predicament I put my self in. A little tug on Derek to keep him from rolling and we were back at it.

Later in the day we revisited the dreaded stuck spot going the other way and Derek tried a little different line.

We tooled around for 4-5 hours until the gas was getting low. Derek helped me load up and surprised me by handing over some of the prized I&G.

I had a great time as always hanging out with Token.

Thanks for posting up the pictures Greg! It was fun riding in the dunes - kind of like driving in the snow but not as wet. I will post some of mine as well as a Rubicon trip report once I get home. A big thanks to Eric for the struts to get me home and to Greg for showing me around!

BTW Thanks again for the I&G. I let a buddy try one and he can't stop talking about it now. He was blown away by all the flavors.
