Sort of.... Sorry guys, I had to think of something to get you to click in here. I emailed the guys at Richmond gear and they said that they would be willing to do a run of the highly sought after 5.83 ring and pinion gears if we got a minimum of 50 orders.

Now, I am not sure if that has to be 50 pairs or just 50 units. I will get more info on this if I feel there is enough people actually willing to get this thing going.

Here is a copy of the email they sent.
We can quote a minimum run of 50 sets.I just guessing at this point but the price would be around the $300.00 plus price range.
If you need a quote please email me your mailing and shipping address along with your phone number.

Thank You,
Mike Ashley

I am really excited about this and would like to gauge interest on who here is also interested. I will be posting this up on other forums also to try and make this happen.

If you are truly interested and are willing to send a deposit for the gears before hand and wait for them to be made, please send me an email at eric_gurule|removethispart||removethispart|@yahoo.com with your sign-in name and your real name and how many sets of the gears you want and I will get a list going(right now in my mind one set = just a set for the front or back so if you want to do the whole vehicle then in your email to me say you want 2sets) If we have enough interest in this I will contact Richmond Gear again to get everything squared away.

This can be posted on any other forum that you feel will help us get the list to its desired level. The forums that I will be posting this on is here, zuwharrie, and pirate.
I am not a member of suzkikrawlers but some one should post this there and any other place they see fit.

Sorry for the long post. But thanks for your interest.

                                                                             Your fellow excited trackick owner
                                                                              Eric

As there is a difference between the front and rear Gears in our Track/Kick rigs, they probably meant 50 each front r&p (set) and rear r&p (set).  The Sami's would be ordering 2 front (r&p) sets,as they use the same size for both.

On a Track/Kick with 5 speed, or 4 speed auto 5.12 r&p, 5.83's would make 31" tires close to stock.
93 Tracker,XL7 springs & 1" raised spring pads in front with YJ springs in back, home built bumpers rear & front (w/winch), 2" x 4" rock tubes,  ARB front & rear, converted Sami rear to IFS, 33x12.5x15  aluminum rims, roll cage, 2.7L w/5 speed auto.

so you could put the fronts into the samurai pots? I'd probably get a set and will check with the friends to see if they bite.

Yeah I kind of thought that out a little more after I posted. I really though there would be more interest in these but I may now be seeing why they stopped making them in the first place. This is the only forum that I have any replies on so far.

One problem with going that low in a Samurai is your gears get really thin.  A club member was running the 5.69's and went through two sets of them in the rear before giving up and going to larger axles.  Then again, we also welded them back up and dropped them in another Samurai and he has been running without issues.

If you are chewing up gears, then they aren't setup right or you
didn't keep fluid in the diffs, not many other reasons for a light
duty small vehicle, like a TrackKick to wear them out

It had more to do with running 45:1 before even reaching the rear end.  He was also pretty good at snapping the heavy duty rear axles on a regular basis.  And the front birfields, then the front axles, and cheap u-joins. 240:1 and pinching tires in rocks tended to be detrimental to the survival of the drivetrain.  :D  To be fair though, the second set was destroyed when he took out both rear axles.

Trail Tough has still been developing new products for the Sidekicks/Trackers.  I wouldn't be surprised if he perhaps laid out the plan to be the exclusive for them and then distribute them as necessary.  There must have been enough demand for some of the other parts he's been making, so perhaps this is the next step??

Brent hates 5.83's I have discussed them with him and he believes they break to easily.

BTW, 5.62's are still available from Suzuki. I believe Petroworks sells them too, at least they list the fronts on their website.

i emailed Petroworks and here was their answer:

"Sorry to say we do not have any of these. They are very hard to come byand no longer sold here in the states by Suzuki. V/RjasonPetroworks"
