Spair tire offset

I'm getting a set of back spaced rims for My 88' ZUK. Will the stock spare tire location be sufficient or do I need to invest in a bumper with the spare carrier?

What size tire are you looking to run on it?

you might find that your back door is going to fall right off if the tire is big....I've seen some fall off with 31's but it all depends on if the hinges are worn out. The offset might make it hard to get the tire on the spare mount but just watch the weight. I moved one to the center of the door and added some plating on the back and he ran a 31 with no problems but his hinge was in good shape.

The hinge is good. it's a 30, I don't have power steering (yet). I'm getting the 4 inch offset steel rims.

you might have to mount it backwards.

With only a 30 you should be fine.  You might want to look at adding a brace on the inside of the door though, just to be on the safe side.

So maybe a drill and bolt piece of plate? Or something tied into the bracing of the door?

By the way, I've been looking at OME springs. my stock ones are beyond tired. are they a direct fit bolt on? and I was going to get the ones with the 1 1/2" lift. do I need any thing like drive line spacers? I was going to do bushings as well.

The OME springs will bolt in no problem. You can keep everything else stock if you want but I would get some better shocks to really enjoy the better ride.

I used a thin spacer like the JW Whitney  ZX816449N  at
.
Note that it had to be clearanced for the 5.5" bolt circle. You can also remove the three rubber bumpers from the rear door to gain a bit more room.  Wheels with significantly reduced backspacing (negative offset) may not require this adjustment.

When I installed OME springs, Petroworks persuaded me to get new shocks. They recommend and offer Gabriel Gas Rider Shocks on their suspension page -- they were a good choice for a rig that sees a lot of asphalt. Between the OME springs and new, softer shocks, the ride improved immensely.
