JX is probably common in Japan. The Japanese are probably scratching their heads over there wondering what the hell GT, LS, SC, etc. as far as American classes go.

I don't think it stands for anything -- it's the option level. JX is top of the line. Mine has chrome trim on the doors and a tach. JA is the basic version.

In OZ and New Zealand we had JX and JLX. JX was the base model and the JLX had better trim, power windows, mirrors and steering etc.

Nope - my 95 2-door is a JX.  Nothing fancy.
My 95 4-door is a JLX.  Power locks, power windows, padded headrests, laser cannon, photon torpedoes, full duplex transporter, hot & cold running blondes...

Mines a JA.

J is the vehicle code that Suzuki named the model of the truck. Just like the former "F-Body" is the code for Firebird and Camaro.

In Canada there was JA, JX and JLX

JLX was supposed to be the high end,
but I didn't get P windows, or door locks,
just an Auto Trans and cloth intierior

Ohh well, must be because it's the first
year production, all the goodies came later

It varied from year to year... my JA has a AT which was unheard back in those days.

Well naturally...

Plus, it came with the infamous "Black Button".  In some Sidekicks, there is an A/C button (there is on my JX oddly enough).  On the JLX, instead of the A/C button, I have "The Black Button".  When you depress the Black Button, the vehicle in front of you is instantaneously sent back to where they started from.  Handy in traffic!
