I'm here in Florida and I've never gotten too close to what the manufacturers rate vehicles at... I've always gotten more. Maybe because I don't use the skinny pedal a lot on the roads (cruise is my best friend) --- and maybe because it's flat as all sin. I could see someone who's good with a stick with a well-tuned engine getting 35-40 MPG out of a Samurai, but only in fairly flat areas.

I saw this Sammy for sale on ebay it says it gets 45 mpg!

My neighbor claimed he was getting 60+ MPG. When his daughter started driving it, she found it was getting around 22.

It turns out he was towing it behind his motor home. <g>

Nope... he was towing the car w/ the rear wheels on the ground... some times on the trailer.

He couldn't figure out what was going on. He was real proud of his car... 142+ K miles on the odometer & the engine was "running like new." (I figure it probably had close to 50K on the engine.)

He was accusing his daughter of being heavy footed. <g> Naturally, I told him he shouldn't abuse the car like this... should sell it to me. It didn't work.

I converted your km to miles and divded it by 10.6 (gas tank size for Sammy) and came up with 24 mpg.

If I remember correctly, Steveo's driving a 4 door kick, which has like a 13 gallon tank, doesn't it?
