How does one get rid of the yellowish color build-up of the plastic headlight lens of a GV? I think the situation was further aggravated by a pair 100 watt bulb used by the previous owner.

Are there available wax, chemicals, etc. that can be used to restore the lens to its original condition?

There are various polishing kits out there - Meguiars Plastx is what's available in my neck of the woods, and it seems to do a decent job.

Search and you'll find all sorts of recommendations - depending on how bad it is, start with fine sandpaper and work your way up to the polishing compounds.

We have an Advanced Auto Parts by my house and they sell a kit, with sand papaper and polishes, I've seen other people use it with good results

I used one of those kits ($20-$30 I think).  The results were rather impressive.....for 4-6 months.  Then, it was right back to that same old yellow cloudy look.  Unfortunately, it only seems to delay the inevitable.  Sorry.....I would recommend new lamp housings....maybe from ebay or another discount source.  Good luck!

thanks guys! I really don't mind rubbing and sanding my plastic lens eery 4 months or so. Brand new headlights are a bomb to purchase, especially the OEs.

did mine with meguiars and 2000 grit sandpaper look like new.  Now I just tuch them up with the meguiars and they are good to go.

I tried going over the various headlight restoration kits available in the market. In summary, there are 2 kinds. One is applied using an electric drill, while the other one is applied manually, by hnad.

Has anybody know the advantages/disadvantages of these two?

Well - if you do it by hand, it'll require a lot more elbow grease
