on the whitepines club 5" do-it-yourself kit they start by using jeep coil spring spacers,,,     can this in itself be used as a 2" lift or does it have to be used in conjuction with the body lift too.?    


it just sounded insanely easy,,,,,   almost to eaasy..

Yes, this can be used by itself as a 2" lift...

Is this list for the front and rear or just the rear?

Where can I find more details as I am looking for a mild and inexpensive list for my kick?

i am wanting to do a 2" lift aswell on ym vitara 4 door, i was experimenting arround with a jeack tosee how high it is, what i want to know is flipping the front strut really needed? the shcok seems to have enough travel in it after being lifted no>?

a stock shock dosn't have enought travel in a stock truck.  i have all stock stuff under mine and i will be switching  to a Crown Vic shock this winter.

I'll be switching out to Crown Vic shocks next week...but ummm...what year of Vic, and what would the recommended brand be?

ok.. my coil spacers arrived and i'm trying to install them today..

I took off the front tire, jacked up the car and the arm thing.. unbolted the front strut, and slowly lowered the arm ..... the jack went all the way down.. and the arm only went about half that distance.. and the spring is still in there too strong to take out.. let alone put back in with a 1.5" spacer on the top of it...

Anyone have any clue as to what else could keep that arm from dropping any farther?
89 Tracker : White with Girly  purple pinstriping, K&N Filter.. and... Uhh.. 0" lift.. balding 205/75 tires on stock rims.

I went to Autozone and rented a strut spring compressor. I only used it on one side of the spring but it definitely helped.

Still have the tie rod attached? Still have the sway bar attached? These will hold the control arm up. Also, the bushings and the bolt through them are not on the same parallel plane as the movement swing of the arm.
I have the same problem with my -7 and have tried 3 different times to get the spacers installed. Can't really use a coil compressor as the coil is on the leading edge of the arm and there is no space available for the inside thread arm of the compressor. Using just one side will make the coil shape like a 'C'.
At my next chance at it, I'll rent the spring compressor, compress both sides, strap them up and release the compressor carefully. Then install the coil and raising the control arm back up.

Good luck with your install and remember safety first, especially when working with loaded springs.

Thanks to both of you.. I had already had my spring out half of the way.. and got it stuck.. couldn't get it back in and couldn't get it out..

I went and rented that spring compresser.. but I think i got the wrong one.. I got one that is supposed to go up inside the spring... and that wasn't happening..so I tried to just use the 1 side.. Heh... no help there.. it just bent into a C like you said.. I was barely barely able to get just the spring back on.. no way I was getting that Friggin spacer in there..

Going to take it back and see if they have the other model they showed me with the 2 single ones, to put one on each side..

The thing that gets me is none of the walkthroughs i read said anything about taking off anything but the strut...

All in all a pretty bummer day.. 6 hours and 60 bucks later... to end up with a stock and hopefully working truck(I accidentally pulled the axle out of the housing.. but managed to put it back in.. PHEW)

Yeah, I feel for ya, it's not easy to get the spring out or back in with the spacer. I used the strut spring compressor not the coil spring compressor that you got. It's the one with 2 pieces and yes it will slightly curve the spring but it definitely helps. Your other alternative is remove the hub and axle but I thought that was too much of a pain for me. Good luck. :)

Be very careful with the coils. They are a loaded piece of metal that will hurt. Glad you were able to get things back together with minimal problems.

Going to take it back and see if they have the other model they showed me with the 2 single ones, to put one on each side..
That would be the one to use. Though you will only be able to get the one side on. You may be able to figure the coil with the one side compressor. Then once you get it in, you'll rotate it to get it to settle in correct. I was trying to get it set first, but that wasn't working.

This is only a technical forum from individuals. Suggestions on what we do and how we got it done is only taken like a grain of salt. It's your responsibility to figure out what works best for you and how you go about getting it done. At times, suggestions are made to help each other out. In the suggestions, other items are left out for various reasons. Common sense shall prevail. If you look at the lower control arm in a geometry figure, to make it go up/down easy is to say that you have to remove all that is attached to it.

By pulling the axle (passenger side right?), you have a little experience in replacing a cv shaft. The shaft comes out of the housing, then it's removed from inside the knuckle. If it's the driver's side, try removing the axle from the flange (triangle piece). Don't forget to remove the lockout and remove the snap ring on the end of the shaft. This holds the shaft in the hub.

13 hours including tim eot fabricate the spacers.
