I've been a long time member at J-body.org for years and a fellow member and friend is Bill Hahn Jr. of Hahn RaceCraft.
http://turbosystem.com/He owns a boosted Hayabusa of his own, and they are a VERY long established and respected Turbo maker in the industry. They do a lot of work in boosting small engines. So i asked him about my idea about adapting the Mini Cooper S's 1.6L turbo set-up to the 1.6L motors of the Sidekick/Tracker. The idea interested him, but was not sure about the computability of the Cooper system to the Suzuki and figured he could build something a little better than just transplanting the Mini system to our cars.
Anyhow he said if we can get say 10 confirmed orders he will tool up a manifold that can then be bolted right up. And from there he can develop and build a full kit...or you can slap whatever turbo you want on and build your own. Right now i need to know if anyone would even be interested and then he could ball park the cost of the prototype manifold. I honestly I think with a tri-y header already going for $330 on Calmini the manifold would most likely not be much more than that. so the cost would be pretty low. I'd say any higher than $500 and forget it. But if he can see there is genuine interest he can then better put numbers together.
Please visit the site and see what amazing things they can do. This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for us Suzuki owners. We always want more power and this could be the holy grail to obtain that in a manner that would be much easier and cheaper than a motor swap and still be mostly OEM. Finally a modern answer to the old Calmini carb'ed supercharger kit, Let me know if you guys are interested here. If you have any questions ask here and i'll pass them along.
I'm sure there are at least 9 or 10 of us here that want to go turbo. And again this is just for the
Manifold (not the whole system) so it's a fairly inexpensive part. From there he can develop a full kit for us or we can make our own from junk yard parts...but at least the hard part will be done for us getting a good manifold to mount the turbo.
