Rhinoman,
Please keep us updated on this. I have been wanting to do this same thing with the doors off my parts Tracker but have not had time to look into it.

I too have been wanting to do this. I was planning to cut down then angle back up just above the stock door handle to simplify things. That way I wouldn't have to fabricate latches and such, but it might not be quite as cool, and could look odd with the angles. Any thoughts?

Here's some photoshop visualizations I came up with...

Stock:

Variation 1 (stock handle):

Variation 1 with lines of stock door to show removal area:

Variation 2 (custom latch/handle):

Variation 3 (Like 1, but rounded a bit):

I started to really like #1 after looking at it a while. It really would make a pretty decent difference, and being able to use the stock handle/latch/hardware would be a really nice benefit.

I've binned the outer handle. Its easy enough to reah inside and open it with an inside catch. Besides I want to be able to jump in and out without opening the doors  ;D ;D so I cut mine down as low as I could whilst still retaining the side impact bar. I haven't cut the first door quite right though so I will have to make good a little, the line will go across where the old external latch was. I'm going to line the interior with sheet ally cos the inside panel is a very irregular shape. My back has been giving me a bit of trouble this week so I haven't done any more work on them but I plan on getting something pretty much together in the next few weeks as we have a big show coming up on the 22nd/23rd, I just hope its not raining.
