I got my first samuri so far I like it but the speedometer does not work were do i start

Does the odometer work?

If neither works it is probably your speedometer cable.  One way to test is to disconnect the cable from your transfer case and use a drill to spin it up.  Have someone in the vehicle tell you if the speedometer is moving or not.

If that fails then you have narrowed it down to either the cable or the speedometer itself.  So disconnect the cable and hit it with a power drill again, see if the other end spins or not.

it's a very comon part to break on a zuke. Check the old cable to see if it;s the cause and then just change it.

Is it normal when the cable is broken to have a leak at the t-case?  My cable is broken and the previous owner said it fell on the exhaust and stopped working.
