Pavement Ends/Bestop hardtop quality?
« on: November 09, 2009, 09:55:31 AM »
I'm thinking of buying one of these new for my Samurai and am wondering about the quality of fit and finish and if it has a door or just a solid rear window. I can't tell by the website. I guess they're being discontinued :(

Any other comments are really welcome because I don't want to spend this much money and not be happy.

Dave

I ordered one about 7 years ago and I was really pleased with it.  Bestop's are very good quality.

Bestop was OE on my Santana built model, no problems with it. Its starting to look a bit ropey now but its nearly 10 yrs old.

The factory tops and the replacement tops are not made to the same standards.  I've bought a new Bestop brand softtop and it was a big disappointment compared to my factory (Bestop) top.  Its noisy cause its so loose, one of the snaps was in the wrong place and it started leaking at the seam over the back window in less than a year.  I've also bought their Pavement Ends brand, and though it was cheaper, it was better than the Bestoop brand by far.

Well I was really talking hard tops. Anyway I decided to buy the Rally 2 piece because it comes in Tan and I can get sliding rear windows. The current deal with the Best Top discontinued hard tops is really great though $700 plus $100 freight. See Ebay

Based on the softop experiences with Bestop, I'd be very hesistant to drop hardtop coin on one of their products, even at the discount.
Rear sliding windows would be sweet!  Post up some pics when you get it!

I'll look at the brand but I had bought a hard top for my samurai...it had sliding side windows and a flip up rear. It was flush with the targa bar and looked great.

I've bought a few best top soft tops and they were great....no problems at all.
