Steering System 1994 2d sidekick
« on: December 04, 2009, 05:39:52 PM »
Hi,
I have a 94 sidekick 2d with the 3in calmini suspension lift and I want to replace all of the arms, tie rods, and sway bars on the front suspension.   Anyone know a good website I can order it all from.  I am also going to put in the Calmini anvil axle housing at the same time.  So I will need to get a couple of the drivers side axles as well.
Thanks

one little sidenote I dont want to spend the $2800 plus axles to do the conversion I have put enough money into this thing already.  So do I really need the Calmini Anvil or will the aluminum housing be fine?
Thanks

I would run the aluminum until it breaks, then upgrade it.

What type of wheeling are you looking to do?

Mainly Trails and snow, for hunting.  Naches Pass type stuff.  Maybe down at the sand dunes in OR.  The big thing is that the Les Swchab guy said teh pitman and am idler arm are bad so I was just going to replace the whole steering stystem, minus pumps and such.

Someone makes an upgraded idler arm that is beefed up exactly for that issue.  I would check it out yourself first though.

For light trails and sand dunes and such I would just leave the aluminum in place.  You might want to make a snout brace to help stop the aluminum diff from breaking or look at upgrading to a steer front diff, but I would leave the aluminum housing as is.
