CONGRATULATIONS!!!...to me!:-(
« on: December 24, 2009, 09:35:39 AM »
Yep, I congratulate myself for having the only 2001 Tracker on this planet that has no trailer wire stub-out in the harness. I know where it's supposed to be (inside the left-rear panel). However, I removed the entire panel and the only stub-out was a 6-pin plug for an additional speaker. The tail light harness went straight to the light with nothing coming off of it. Oh well, thanks for trying to help guys (and gals). I guess it's back to splicing wires.

Actually, I don't think the Tracker nor the Vitara models had that, only the Grand Vitara and the Trackers with ZR2 package...

Sorry for your bad luck.

My 01 has a plug in that panel. Did you test all the pins in that plug to see if they tie into the lighting circuit elsewhere?

No I didn't because these were (w/o a doubt) nothing but speaker wires.

I don't know if mine is different because its a RHD but my connectors were in the pillar behind the right rear cluster.

Traditionally, the tail light wiring is found behind one of the tail lamp fixtures - not inside behind the trim panels.

I have found them behind the left tail lamp assembly on a '93 'Kick and a '96 Tracker.

Rhinoman found his behind the right side tail lamp assembly because of it's "Limey-like" nature  ;) .

BTW, right- or left-hand drive, you can count on finding rust there!

I hope that this helps!

Behind the RH tail light assy. is the only place I haven't looked so far. I'll start the splicing project there and hope I find something. Thanks guys!
