ignition coil failures on tracker
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:00:03 PM »
what would cause my ignition coils to keep failing? i have tried 3 coils now and they all keep dieing. my first went out so i replaced it with another stock one from advance auto. it ran for about 5 minutes and then the one from advance died so i bought an Accell from oriellys. and it ran great all weekend but the problem reoccurred when i was pulling it out of the garage. i was backing out of the garage and then turned the headlights on and BAM! dead as a door nail. i dont know what it has to do with the headlights but this is the second time that by turning the lights on it killed the motor. and of course it wont start now. and my brand new Accel coil isnt giving any spark. what is going on?

grounds were just checked and all seem to look fine. i unbolted them and wiped them off then put them all back on. battery to body. battery to starter. distributor to body. might i be missing one?

There are a bunch of small black wires that bolt to the distributor housing,
they are the computer grounds, probably the most important ones.
