Suzuki Canada Racing News
Richmond Hill – July 6th, 2004.
The Suzuki Canadian Rally team has pulled off another 1–2 finish at the 3rd round of the Canadian Rally championship held this past weekend at the Rallye Baie des Chaleurs in New Richmond, Que.
Bill Bacon and co-driver Peter Watt drove to an amazing 11th overall, winning the P2 class by over 7 minutes. Even more astounding was the fact that they were faster than all the other more powerful P3 cars. Initially it seemed as if they had pulled off the more amazing feat of finishing in the top ten, but later calculations moved an open
class AWD Subaru 2 seconds ahead of the tough little Swift+.
The second team of Thierry Menegoz and Elise Racette weren’t as lucky but recovered from an “off“ on Stage 4 (losing 4 minutes) to finish 17th overall out of 34 vehicles
and complete the 1–2 Suzuki finish.
Team Suzuki looks well positioned to capture a Canadian rally Championship title in their first year back in the sport.
Both Swift + Rally cars are ready to go for Round 4 at Rallye Defi, Ste. Agathe/ Duhamel on September 9th and 10th, 2004.
