I have found that a rancho 5115 works really well in this setup. It's about 2-3 inches longer than the stock shock, so you would gain more travel.

Just ask Speedracer7c how his ranchos are!

BTW this looks an awful lot like a post in the zuwharrie forum....

don't you need longer springs in order to get more flex?

You need a long enough spring to keep up with the shock travel. if your shock is too long and your spring is to short, the spring will fall out under full articulation.  :o

Depending on how long/stiff your spring is too, it will lift your truck higher off the ground.

I have a 2 in lift installed and after a lot of seeking for some good but not expensive shocks y found that there are some gabriel vst shocks that work , they just fit in the axle mounts cause they are thicker. This shock are intended for an isuzu trooper , the rear ones and the model is G63519 , they are good , just a bit stiffer than stock ones.

my couple of cents
Custom 5" suspension lift, custom 2"body lift, custom transmision lift, custom intake porting and custom exhaust.
3" wider A-arms custom made front coils.Power inverter , dual batteries , 8000lb winch , VHF , AM , LSB , On board Notebook-GPS on 15" Screen :-)
 265/70 - 15 tires on 8 rims. Custom Man

Yes the rear shocks from a 98-99 Ford Crown Victoria
work well with 3" spring spacers, the biggest problem
you will have is the drive shaft hangs out and after
50-100 thousand miles it will start to viberate,
like mine  ;D but a spacer should fix this before it
becomes a problem
