1.3 rebuild

1.3 rebuild

 I noticed on e-bay they are selling new head bolt sets,several suppliers. Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with using the old bolts and if I should buy new ones?  Thanks  goldfinder

well, in things like head bolts, they stretch, and new ones are a good idea if you'd like them to work well for long term.

i've been noticing that on ebay also.
i know some late model engines require new bolts.
i've been reusing mine without any problem - so far, and am in the process of an overhaul.
i was going to use them again.........
what's the worst that can happen?

'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.

In all fairness, I learned that from my S10 with its HORRIBLE 4 cylinder engine.   words DO NOT express how much I hate that motor.

i may have been lucky so far.
some newer engines require a dummy head be torqued on before a block can be bored- the block will flex and the cylinders distort- new bolts are used every time and they are torqued to stretch. mabe later model suzuki's are the same?
any info on the1.3 block?
this will be the third time(i know of) for these bolts.

Most serious racing engine builders use a torque plate to
preload the block before boring and honing the cylinders
