No sir! U don't have to, however I didn't but that's because maybe I was running a modded intake with a se carb... it might be true if you are going to run the tbi? Some one else might be able to chime in who runs the tbi setup.. as far as mine, I didn't. Hope this helps.. if u don't want to run the 1.6 8V, sell it to me haha!

no you don't have to use a body lift if you want retain the thottle body fuel injection but don't have the computer or wiring TNT diversified can supply you with a mega squirt and harness to opperate that unit and make it lap top programable.

My Samurai is already fuel injected , ( 92 ) I was told that the 8v moter would accept my intake and exhaust and that the wiring would not need to b modifyed , is this right ?

You can run all the 1.3 stuff but its best to open out the intake manifold to suit the 1.6 head otherwise it will really mess with the flow rate. The clearance problem is due to the 1.6 motor being about 1" taller, if you used a Petroworks kit then that will drop the engine a little to compensate, otherwise you'll just have to try it and see how tight it is. My preference is to run a scoop or 'power bulge', a body lift will raise the centre of gravity significantly and its only a very small area that will foul. Some people have got away with just relieving the strengthening ribs on the bonnet/hood a little.

If you have a FI '92 Samurai, swapping in the 1.6 8-valve engine is wonderful. Just get a good long block and an adapter kit from Trail Tough, Petroworks, or Calmini and bolt everything together and go. A long afternoon and you'll have 25 more horsepower and more torque too... The only thing you'd have to modify is the oil pan IF you do not have some lift. Other than that it's bolt together, no wiring, no modifications.

Do it! :)

What kind of modifying are you talking about for the oil pan ? and does someone sell a pan for this swap ?
