Time to change the pinion seal,It's starting to leak real good now. I've got several conflicting torque specs, and to use the new or old crush sleeve?. I got a kit with no info. any info step by step would be great.  Thanks, just want to do it right and not over tighten bearings and seal it right the first time.

new crush sleeve and is your vent open on top of the diff? If it's blocked then it'll create some pressure.

Yes, The vent is open. Any ideas on ft pounds? As mentioned i can't find anything on what it needs to be tightened to. I could experiment with poundage, bumping it up until the nut loosens, but with the flange nut being seated I'm afraid i get a false reading.

not sure of the numbers...I don't do gears myself so I just end up paying someone.....too many things to break if I mess it up.

If every thing else was okay and the seal just let go, just pull the flange replace seal, and tighten the nut back to the original position by looking at where it was staked last time.  it will be fine.  If the reason it is leaking is because the bearings are shot, get someone to set it up for ya.

That's exactly what i ended up doing. For what its worth, the nut was set at 150ft pounds. every thing looked great, thanks for the input

As a double check the pinion nut should require 5-8 in lbs
to turn after it's been torqued on a used set of bearings,
a little higher on a new set.

This is with the diff 3rd out of the housing, and will check
for the right amount of bearing preload
