I recently purchased a 2nd hand calmini anvil for my suzuki. I have a few small questions,
-1 is, the fill and drain plugs on mine have taken a beaten/been semi stripped, are they meant to be an allen key removale? or what? and any hints on getting these off. luckily it has fluid in it when i got it.
2- when i first installed the short side seal was leaking very slowly but appears to have stopped for now, but when i replace this, do i just pull the stub straight out and swap the seal or is there a procedure i need to do?

Assuming that Calmini used the same type of drain bolt as Suzuki did, the oil drain can be removed with a 3/8" ratchet or, I believe, a 10mm box tool.  If it is "buggered" and you don't feel up to figure out how to pull it yourself, you can have it done by an auto mechanic.

The short-side seal is easily replaced after removing the passenger-side CV halfshaft - which is the harder of the two to remove.

The early drain plugs were a 14 or 17mm A/F head which takes a standard socket, later types require a special drain plug socket, available from most auto places. A 3/8 ratchet may work but isn't quite the right size and may round off the head.

Buy socket you mean a socket to undo a bolt? sorry to sound stupid. just my anvil has recessed drain and fill plugs, that have recessed heads, hence why i asked about the possibility of using a Allen key? hope this was a clear explanation. I have no problems with my other diffs iv had in it, or the gear-transfer box, just this is different

They mean the end of the ratchet handle you would snap the socket onto. It's 3/8 ths square, and should fit right into the whole in the drain plugs. Unless they're rewally screwed up.

I don't know about the anvil, but on a Suzuki it's a 10mm square - slightly larger than 3/8" - which is why they get screwed up when folks use a 3/8 ratchet handle on them.

I've never had an issue removing mine with a 3/8 ths drive, but mine aren't all buggered up, and I only put them in tight enough to seal, never over tighten.
