I see where one vendor has, another is working on a engine swap kit for the 2.0. Has anyone researched to see if the 1.3 could be bored to accomodate the larger 2.0 piston?

I think by the time you bored out a 1.3, or a 1.6 you could have bought the whole 2.0 swap kit.  Real_red_wagon and I were just discussing boring a 1.6 that we have at out disposal.  Depending on machining costs and what is available to you, it might not be the best option.

You could be right. The 2.0 kit is over $1000. The cost for a 2.0 engine used I don't know. One would also have to buy a complete overhaul gasket set.
My concern is how much meat in the 1.3 block for boring purposes. Also, is the wrist pin dia, connecting rod length and crank journal the same dimensions?

You can bore the 1.3 and 1.6 for 78mm pistons from a Mazda Miata/MX-5 for a small increase in capacity but by all accounts a useful increase in torque. Compression ratio 10:1 But to to do it right it really should be resleeved. There are two different blocks for the 1.3 and the later one is the one you need with more meat in the liners. You could also get the crank offset ground for a small increase in stroke but the cost starts climbing and I've been told not to worry about it.

I'm going to have to agree with the lawdog, after seeing his truck and my truck, the 1.3 would probably be a waste of time and money. I rebuilt a 1.6 and put it in my sammi, and I would say it's much more powerful!
Plus I think the 1.6 has a bigger stroke to begin with anyway!
