need good speaker mounting ideas
« on: April 03, 2010, 03:44:07 PM »
I need some pictures of ideas to do rear 6 1/2 speakers on my 90 2dr tracker. I was gonna use the stock location but not enough room. I would rather not downsize to 5 1/4s since they lack the bass I would like
thanks!

BRD HNTR put some larger speakers in without any issues by moving it further back.  A few other people have done similar:

Crawlers NorthWest

i have 6 1/2's in the stock location on my truck. trim the mounting ring on the speaker and trim out the sheet medal. im wanting on a 10" sub to go in the back (truck just doesnt have enough bass to keep up with the the other car (jl 6 1/2 components, 6x9s in the rear and dual 12's) the kick only has the 4"ers and the 6.5's

I have 4" Alpine Type-S speakers in the front and 6.5" Alpine Type-S in the rear factory locations. The panel in the rear almost contactsxthe tweeter portion but in the pas 4 years I've had no issues. I did blow the front left speaker but over time the speakers droped price and I got a pair for $46 shipped.

I also have a 8" JL w1 sub in a ported box that just fits behind the rear seat (have to shut rear door with a little effort). Has a small Alpine amp powering it.

I have 6x9s in mine above the wheel wells.

In the trail rig, we used the hole left from removing the seatbelt towers.

The daily driver, with the seat belt towers left in.
