got my  bone stock 88 Sam home last night, ran great when I left Rods place, ran horrible as i got off the freeway an hour later. later that  night I went out and took it for a sppin and it was running fine again. this morning it was running bad again, no cruise  action, idles like new, wide open throttle is fine just wont cruise down the road. I wood love to toss this for a less electronicaly loaded card, any suggestions ?

I put on a weber 2 barrel with the manual choke and have not had any issues with it. I have had it on some steep inclines and no problems with it stalling. Very easy to install and set up.

I went with the Petroworks side draft intake with a 44mm screamin' eagle carb. The throttle response if excellent and it is still decent on fuel. The only issue I've had is when it's really cold like -25C and it ices up a bit. Not hard to solve but I don't drive it when it's that cold out anymore. The whole vehicle and myself don't get very warm no matter what! It's probably one of the best mods I've done to my 88 Sam hands down.

Im running a Toyota Starlet carb.Works great pretty much a bolt on.Power and drivabilty is good off roading up and down hills or crawling over rocks works great.

took the top off and cleaned out the rust, blew out the jets and all the passages i cood, it ran great, ran great for a week and now it running rich again, traced it to the electronics in the carb, time for a weber i think.

Harley CV swap if you want the best performance, with better everything all around.

Yes, it's from Zuk's Off Road (ZOR) and called the My-Side conversion.  Side draft carbs are great once you get them tuned, you don't get the stalling at weird angles you see with a standard carb.

Was at a swap meet a few weeks ago and these fellas from kentucky were talking about how they put GM 2 barrel carbs on their 1.3s and turn 9 grand with them going straight up hills. im not sure of the truth in any of this but thats what they said. anyone heard/ done this before?

When we were racing our Swift GT at the circle track, the engine was always in the neighborhood of 8K for 30 lap races. This was not the GT engine but the 1.3 and later 1.6 8-valve engine setup w/weber carb and only a couple of fancy internals... No scattering problem... One time a CV shaft broke and the memory tach had the peak of over 9200... this was a short burst but still no damage...

Pretty cool..

like i said, that what the guys said, i never saw their set up so i couldnt tell ya. still interested in a GM carb swap tho. my old man has a million GM 2barrel carbs layin around 

No question...My side or myside2 from zuksoffroad....I just sold 1 samurai that i put the CV carb on and bought another samurai with a TBI on it. Called myron the same day and ordered one
