Not bad! 28Mpg
« on: July 06, 2004, 01:05:49 PM »
Just got back from my trip to Chicago(about 500 Miles)
And I remembered to reset the tripometer this time  ;D
I filled up and reset the trip meter in my town and then left for Chicago. We went 336 miles on a little less then 12 gallons. So I figured if we filled up and drove till we ran out of gas it would be right about 400miles. I don't think 28mpg is too bad for a 2dr 4x4 5spd with a hardtop.

I can drive just over 400km before I have to fill up. How do I calculate my MPG?

fill the tank, zero the trip meter, drive till close to empty, (more acurate) fill it again, write down how many gallons you put in, write down how many miles are on the trip meter.  devide gallons into miles.  miles/gallon.  thats it. ;)  dont know metric conversions :-/

I get 400km to a tank on my 2dr with 30" tires. So Stevo if your running your 4dr stock you should get over 500km per tank cause it holds 10 more litres than mine, but if it's modded then it's probably close enough.

Are you taking into account that you're putting more miles on the car than the odometer shows because of the larger tire?

FWIW, I typically get 23 - 24 MPG (90% or so highway) with my auto.  I got 26 MPG on a close to 99% highway tank the other day :)

I get about 220 miles to the tank (11 gallons). That's with 33's, too. :)

You get 400? is that actual km or what the speedo reads. I get about 300 corrected km to a tank but I fill before empty. I'm running 32x11.5 by the way

With the step up in tire size to 225/70-16's for the -7, I still get ~20 mpg combined. Drive it everyday 22 miles to work, 22 miles home, and then around the town running errands. Haven't adjusted the speedo since the tire change, but it's 4-5% off I've been told.

I was getting 22 mpg in my SJ410 before it died of a thrown rod.  After I get the seals in up front in my 87 tintop, I'm hoping for close to 30 mpg.

It's late so the mind might not be working great, but I think your actual mileage will just be new diameter/old diameter, 30/27=1.111 times more than what the odometer shows.
