2" and a cheap quiet muffler, so it makes a little noise but not too noisy

Or 2.25" end-to-end.

...and a Thorley header.

...and a quiet muffler like wildgoody sez.

No point in irritating the neighbors.

& yes, you will feel a noticable power improvement with a more open system.

Did the Calimin header kit with 2" cat back setup.
Bit too noisey for my liking, depends on my mood I guess.
I still have the old muffler in good shape.
May just have to install it.
Need to see how the animals are affected by the Vroom Vroom.
Not too bad just putzying around.
Throaty when pulling off from a red light.
I have a five speed so you can make it play a tune.
Hair staight back....
Would I buy this again, probably.
Shiny header under the hood makes me smile........
Now if eye can only git it to idle sweet.... :-\

I don't think a 4 cylinder engine really sounds that good noisy,
you know, that fart can sound on the rice racers so keep it
simple and cheap on the muff

not that i would >:D, but if someone was to cut the cat out, would that help a sami exhale a little better and or add some power?
if a bigger hammer, bigger tires or more gas doesn't help... your doing it wrong.

Keep the cat, just get a bigger one, like 2-1/2, that will flow fine

the cat has already been taken off. however i do like my toys a little noisy. i saw someone that put a magnaflow on his samurai on youtube that sounded decent i thought. is there any difference between the thorley header and calmini header?

A good thoraty sound but got loud at high RPM.

I'm going to be upgrading to the 2" system on my sammy.   I like quiet, really makes wheeling better, plus the people up at my vacation home appreciate it when we're all goin out on a beer run at night.

when I got my sami it had a header with a stock exhaust system behind it, but the muffler was leaking at both ends. I went to the auto parts store and the cheapest thing on the shelf was a cherry bomb. I clamped that on the end and it was LOUD. I couldn't get it through deq, so I cut out the cat see check the condition and it was completely burned out. then I went with a new 2'' exhaust and the same cherry bomb. only cost me $90 plus time and welding it up. It was defiantly a lot quieter, but I think it made the engine accelerate slower??? if I finished the exhaust and ran the pipe all the way to the end it might be nicer sounding and quieter yet. that would cost me another $12 and some time though, so well see what happens.

I have a cherry bomb on my Sammy with the stock cat that's pretty burned out and everything else is stock.  It was on there when I bought it so, I can't compare my Sammy with what it was stock but I have spent some time driving a similar one with stock exhaust and I think the cherry bomb gives it a bit more high end but the low end is better with a stock muffler.

The cherry bomb is a bit too noisy for my tastes and I am going to go with a flowmaster to tame it a bit and probably go 2" from the cat back.
