New Samurai Owner here and new to this board
« on: June 28, 2010, 07:52:54 PM »
Recently purchased 87 JX.  Has Ford v6 and auto tranny. Total of 10 inches of lift and 35s.  Bought this thing kinda blind as to what all mods it actually has and its been a headache but finally getting it figured out.  I think I have stock axles but havent snaped one yet and have had it boucing pretty hard on a log pyle this past weekend.  Any way to tell if they are stock axles in the tubes or chromoly upgrades?  Anyway I love the little thing and can't wait to just keep riding and making mods to it!

The only real way to check the axles are to pull them.  But that isn't very hard on these.  If you post up some pics we should be able to identify most of what has been done.  :)

I have an 8000 lb Warn, one of the good ones, and a winch bumber off of a scout that I'm pretty sure I can modify with ease to fit the Samurai.   Drove it 30 miles this weekend to a trail in the Big Black River swamp took it swimming and all out on the sand bars then drove home muddy, wet, and cold in the rain.  Loved every minute of it too!
