adjusting the angle of the transfer case

I'm in the process of trying to get my pinion angle correct, but I'm noticing the rear transfer case flange actually seems to point slightly upward. any information on how to drop that slightly to help with the angle?

any suggestions on what type of mounts to try out? I'm having a difficult time finding thinner and thicker mounts.

why are you trying to adjust it differently than factory settings ??
will it have any other adverse effects on something else ??
just wondering why the factory has it setup at an angle and not level...

Polaris mounts are thinner and a person can use washer to adjust them :

I agree, not sure why its not level. I've been troubleshooting this vibration for months, i've changed pinion angle multiple times, extended slip yoke, driven with just the front drive shaft in place, swapped out for a different drive shaft, new ujoints, and multiple other things.

I happen to have 2 saumrais, one of which drives smooth as hell. I kept looking back and forth at the two trying to see what could be different, same lift, same tires, same everything pretty much.
then i noticed....

on the smooth driving one, the flange from the transfer case is about 3 degrees slanted downward, pointed towards the ground just slightly.

and on the other one that has serious vibration upon acceleration, the output flange is actually tilted back about 5 degree (pointing upwards). I'm thinking maybe this slight tilt backwards it causing the ujoints to bind?

the mounts look exactly the same on both vehicles, so not sure why they are slightly different in this regard.

i'm really at my wit's end, and just trying to eliminate this last possibility.

i'm really at my wit's end, and just trying to eliminate this last possibility.

I had some crazy vibrations with acceleration in lower gears. I chased it by changing out shims to correct the rear pinion angle and was also very frustrated because nothing solved it. I thought it was maybe axle wrap and had almost ordered a trac-bar a couple times but SOOOO glad I didn't.
It ended up being "drive line wrap" - I had a good conversation with Brent at Trail Tough and he diagnosed this over the phone. He was spot on, the t-case was jumping around with the stock rubber mounts..... Brent solved my problem over the phone without knowing who I was or trying to sell me a single part. Great company and great people !!!
read my link posted above on the Polaris t-case mounts about how I solved mine.
This was my last problem that i had been chasing for awhile...

wow, thanks for the info! that sounds like my exact problem. I can feel the transfer case jump around like crazy, and the shifter goes nuts when I accelerate.

I don't plan on using this on paved roads, so I'm thinking the solid mounts will work for me? I noticed you also said you have a heavy duty transfer case mount, I'm still only using the factory mounts. maybe its time to upgrade that as well.

Have you checked to make sure your tcase mounts aren't broken?  Get under it and push up on the tcase at each mount....if one is broke it will lift up off the mounts.

The major problem with the solid mounts is they tend to make your entire vehicle sing when driving down the road.  The drive-line noise goes straight to the frame.  If you have any u-joints or anything slightly out of wack you will hear it.  I like the Polaris engine mounts myself.

I added an internal brace to the long arm on the transfer case.  You might want to do that as well as they tend to warp with heavy wheeling.  Ran that way for years without issues.
