« on: July 28, 2010, 05:37:34 PM »
My zuk got hit is the front end and bent the frame not the way i wonted to start the day. I was getting ready to make it just a toy now i get to not the way i wanted to, but now it is getting solid axle conversion and tube front end. Anyone have any good ideas on what i should do to it. Honestly, maybe it's the angle of the picture, but it doesn't look that bad...but it could just be the angle of the picture.  Maybe just make the best of it as it is and leave the front end intact?  I have an idea for my second one I just bought, its front end is messed up too...if and when I get to it I will post pictures...

the pictures dont do it justice the frame is pushed back a inch, the strut tower is pushed over against the steering shaft. The hole front clip will have to be cut off. and the power steering pump is shot but the steering gear survived how i dont know.

That reminds me...I was reading a post on this site that linked to another forum, it was about grafting a Toyota IFS front frame section onto one of these trucklets...there's an idea if you'd like to keep IFS but make it more durable (and gear and locker options)...

Taken from:
http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/technical-discussion-performance-modify/toyota-ifs-%28paging-mr-hagen%29/

The link on this page on reply #6 takes you here:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318480

Which is basically putting Toyota IFS diff into the Trackick...
but it has a link further down the page to what I was telling you about:
http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=12186

This guy does a whole step-by-step, for the most part.  Looks great tho
Yes, he grafted the whole front section of the frame from the Toyota IFS truck onto his Trackick, and swapped in the Toyota rear axle.

I'm not sure what you're thinking, but you could do this, and then remove fenders, etc on the front end and make a tube chassis for the front.  Integrate it into a full exo-cage and you'd be sittin purty!

That picture right there is exactly what I was referring to, something just like that!  Where'd you find it?
Depending on how badly the frame is messed up, you could use that Toyota front frame idea.  If not, then you can do whatever you want, samurai sas, swap both axles for toyotas, or even just cut and fabricate your own stuff into the frame and swap in the front pig from a toyota IFS and keep it independent.
Basically, whatever you wanna do!
