Build Order
« on: August 10, 2010, 06:49:14 AM »
I recently bought a 93 tracker soft top 4wd.  It was pink, now camo in memory of my brother in law who was in the military and passed away 2 years ago.  I would like to do a decent build to the car, designing it more for mud then rock climbing.  I want to know what order to do things in, such as winch bumper suspension tires locker and more please give me some advice.

Thank You,

Matt

Welcome to the board
First decide what size tyres you want/need then build the vehicle around that.

I'm runnun 31's with 2" coil spacers, they rub the wheelwells when pushed right up, longer bumpstops would fix this for the back but I think the front will still rub at full turn, a 3"body lift should fit 31's, you might have to trim up the bumpers a bit. I have a 3" body lift that I'll be putting in soon, if I find it tipsy I'll take out the 2"coil spacers, if I do I'll tell if the the tires rub anywere. I'm also using stock gearing and you notice it in 4High when its in a fare bit of mud with the BFG km2's 31/10.5/15,M/T's, probable a 9.5wide tire or A/T's would be easier to turn with my 80HP! But you don't notice it in 2High.

This is what it looks like with 31's & a 2"lift... ;)

I would suggest the following order...
1- Lift and Tires (if your shooting for 30-31 range, gearing should not be a problem).
2- Rear locker.
3- front locker.
4- more lift and bigger tires.
5- gears to match your new lift and tires.
6- gut it all and custom build a trail beast.

Depending on how hard you wheel your rig, somewhere in there you will need axle/CV upgrades (probably after 4) but if your easy on the gas, they can last a while.
