New Tracker owner needs info
« on: August 10, 2010, 10:16:04 AM »
Hello Zukiworld, I recently acuired a 1996 tracker that I would like to add a cold air intake and a cat back exhaust to, if anyone has any ideas or links to these parts any help would be appriciated. Also are there any other suggestions you guys would have for a little extra power or where a good place to start would be?

Thanks,
NW Tracker

Hello newbie! For info on this subject, try the " search " feature. There have been a ton of posts on this. As far as cold air intake's go, you'll probably have to make up your own as there are no kits that I'm aware of, but it's not that difficult to adapt one. 2" cat back with a turbo style muffler is a good size for these motors, and dropping a K+N air filter in the stock airbox helps too. Combine these with a good header system and you've got a nice little power increase with much better throttle response.

ARB makes a snorkel / cold air intake for your Tracker.

Electric cooling fan might free up a little power.

Thanks Eric for the heads up on the ARB snorkle. I actually have the ARB ( Safari ) snorkle mounted on my 95, but wasn't aware that was considered a " cold air intake." Now that I think of it, it makes perfect sense, and I thought they were only for water and dust intake prevention.
