I looking to convert my 1987 LWB samurai to a diesel what is the most reliable year of the VW motors? and what size 1.6 or the 1.9? i will be buying the acme adapter kit.


This is my truck as it stands
1987 LWB Zuk
1995 1.6 16v mid range cam
sidekick transmission whit a kicker3 and stock samurai t-case
yj springs with revolvers on all 4 corners
rancho 9000's
1984 toyota axles with 529's lockright up front and e-locker in the rear
35 x12.5x15 LTB super swampers
4 point harness seat belts
honda civic seats
warn xd9000i

any ways, I'm building a TD sidekick with the 1.9 aaz motor (supposed to be the best) but I have drove 1.6 `kicks too and really didn't notice much difference.(looking back I would have taken a 1.6 or 1.9)
the 1.9's are generally 1-2 grand more then the 1.6. there was somebody on here that found a 1.6 turbo for like 260.00 or something like that check the classifieds check out my thread in "build diary's" theres a sami gettin a 1.6 right now too (deeprecon1)
