Specs correct?
« on: August 24, 2010, 04:22:38 PM »
Here's the link for the 99-05 Tracker specs on ZUKIWORLD Online.

http://www.zukiworld.com/section_technical/technical_spec_vitara.htm

Are these specs right? I thought the 5.12 gears were on the stick version and the 4.88s were on the auto. Also, I have the 2.0 with the auto and it DOES have the lock-up converter. I can see and feel it lock up after it's in overdrive further dropping my rpms. My front diff is aluminum. Doesn't the diff with the 5.12s have a cast iron housing or is that just on pre-98 Trackers?

Thanks!

The spec isn't right for my Tracker.  My '01, 2.0, 5 speed has 4.62 gears not the 4.88's the chart shows.  Maybe Suzuki was different than Chevy, but I'm somewhat doubtful.

I'm not aware of ANY Tracker ever built from the factory with a steel diff.  I've had a '95, '96 a '00 and '02 and all had aluminum front diffs and carriers.  The '99 GV with the V6 and manual tranny had the steel housing... not sure of any other Suzuki models with steel diffs unless it was the XL-7s.

I'm going with 5.12 gears on the 1.6 engine manual tranny equipped '96-'98 trucks, 4.62 with the 2 liter manual tranny trucks and 4.88s with the auto tranny trucks 2nd gen trucks.
'02 Chezuki Tracker with a 2 Liter and 5spd.  It works for me!!!
