Ya, I had a gasket like that too, but the groove in the housing was too big
and it didn't seal at all, I don't remember what I did to fix it, but I worked
something out

well, one of the local Napa's actually had one. they are a square O ring with a cut on the inner part of the ring that slips onto the the outside edge of the thermostat.
