Hey guys. I have been looking around on this forum for awhile now and I just wanna say this is the best suzuki forum goin.  I love how everyone is polite, funny, AND helpful at the same time.  Enough rambling though.  I have been driving suzukis for over ten years now.  I have owned one samurai and several trackicks.  I have done all my own wrenching from tune ups to engine overhauls.  Okay, that was more rambling.  Here is my question.  My current zuk is a 92 4 door sidekick.  I have jeffs spacers and a 2 inch body lift.  Shortly after the body lift I started feeling a "rough" place in my steering, only in one place.  My first thought was the steering shaft because I did not extend it.  When I checked the steering shaft though it looked okay.  Maybe the struts binding? I dont know and havent had a chance to look.  Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for even more rambling.

Well...  On ONE of my Kicks, the flexy part of the linkage broke right in half - just as I parked it in my driveway.  If that had happened while I was doing 65, I would have been in deep kimchee.  Take a REALLY GOOD LOOK at the flexible part of your steering shaft.  Looks sort of like a metal accordian.

Thanks.  Ill check that tonight.  Is lengthening the steering shaft a must.  The splines did not move at all.  Also iwould think that the "rough" feel would be throughout my entire steering range unless the shaft was rubbing against something on a high spot.

A body lift of only 2 inches shouldn't require extending the steering shaft, but as you installed the body lift, did you loosen the coupler to the steering box to let the shaft extend a bit ? I guessing you did as you seem to know what's up.

I had a rough spot in my steering and it turned out to be the steering
box disintegrating the gears inside, had to replace the box when it locked
up, fortunately I was not out far at the Tierra Del Sol Offroad Safari, but it
did ruin my day of wheeling, driving 4 extra hours to get the replacement box
I had sitting at the house.

You should pull the top of the box off if it's a non power steering box and
see if there is a bunch of metal goop in there

Problem solved.  After driving some more I was able too see some "shine" on the accordian piece.  Im guessing that with the right steering and body flex conditions I am getting contact between the accordian and inner fender.  I think a 2 by 4 and a bfh should adjust the inner fender for me.
